We make sure that you are safe on the road even before your 18th birthday - with driving license category B17! You have the opportunity to register at our driving school for category B or BE driving license training six months before your 17th birthday. To obtain a driving license under 18, you must submit an application to the relevant driving license authority. The parent or legal guardian must agree to the application.
Definition of accompanied driving at 17
The B17 driving license is valid until the 18th birthday and allows you to drive a car in the presence of an accompanying person who is at least 30 years old, has held a class B driving license for at least five years and has a maximum of one point in Flensburg. The name of this accompanying person must be entered on the test certificate. No further test needs to be taken after the 18th birthday. From this point onwards, driving without an accompanying person is permitted. The theory test can be taken at the earliest three months before the 17th birthday and the practical test at the earliest one month before the 17th birthday. The driving license in the form of a chip card with a photo is only issued by the competent authority after the 18th birthday. Prior to this, you must carry an official identification document in addition to the certificate confirming that you have passed the test. Please note that the B17 driving license is only valid in Germany and not abroad.

How much does a driver's license cost at 17?
Depending on the driving school, the costs for driving license training can vary considerably. Anything between 1,500 and 2,400 euros is possible. In addition to the registration fee and costs for learning materials, the driving lessons and fees for the theoretical and practical test must also be paid.
How long does driving license training take?
The number of driving lessons is not regulated by law and depends on the individual learner driver. Special trips and at least twelve theory lessons of 90 minutes each are mandatory.
Who can become an escort?
Anyone who is at least 30 years old, has held a class B driver's license for at least five years and has no more than one point in Flensburg is eligible as an accompanying person.
Where must the accompanying person sit?
During the journey, the accompanying person can either sit in the front passenger seat or in the back seat.
What are the consequences of driving without an accompanying person?
If the accompanying person is not present when driving, this is a serious offense punishable by a fine of 70 euros and one point in Flensburg. In addition, the driver's license will be revoked and participation in an advanced seminar for novice drivers is mandatory.
